It was actually Martinez who first spoke about the 150 catchweight to Elie Suckbach. He said that he would go down to 150 to make a fight for Manny or Floyd but it would be hard for him to do it.

Someone from the media asked Manny about the 150 catchweight and then his team ran with it.
