I like Lacy and expect him to give us big shows. But, a Champ beating a #5 guy is not that "big" of an accomplishment. Lacy's money-making power has increased, but his legacy has not. So, let's save all the "Tyson" comparisons and "the man" remarks until he defeats somebody who's also accomplished something other than beating Omar Sheika.

Demolishing a solid fighter in Pemberton is impressive, especially since Lacy once again showed he was ready to give the American audience that all-or-nothing pace that keeps the PPV count high. But, Lacy's real test is in the harder hitting Calzaghe, not the #5 Pemberton. I expect that Zaghe will get more respect from Lacy, early in their fight, for showing Lacy he's got heavier hands than the five guys he's beaten in title defenses. I'm not saying Zaghe walks away with this, but neither will Lacy. Unlike Pemberton, Zaghe will be a live opponent that won't be reluctant to fully pull the trigger when the brain is thinking "cover up". Zaghe also won't be pushing his punches like Pemberton did in the last half of Round 2, he fire-away.

Imagine if it was Zaghe, instead of Scotty, that landed that left hand on Lacy's forehead just before the big right ended the fight. I'd say Zaghe would have gotten Lacy's attention much more than Pemberton did on this night.

Lacy is good, but not yet great, by any stretch. His greatness is on the horizon though, if he can repeat his title defense against better quality opponents, which I am totally unconvinced he is capable of doing.

There are times where Lacy looks like Tyson. Anyone else notice that?
