    Mega fight mystery... Vanished

    Pacquiao/Mayweather mystery...Gone?

    By: John McCormick

Leading up to the 3rd fight between Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao I couldn't help but tell everyone that Marquez wouldn't be knocked out. He wouldn't get steamrolled. Although, Manny did win the fight, it wasn't in the fashion the entire world was expecting. I believe that Pacquiao has been the product of brilliant match making the past 2 years, which has led to a lot of fans thinking he would actually beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. After seeing the success that Marquez had with counter punching, and using his ring IQ, is there anyone out there that still thinks Pacquiao could beat Mayweather?

Styles make fights, and Marquez gives Manny trouble due to him being a technician, and great counter puncher. Both of those qualities, are things Floyd would bring to a fight, but Floyd does them a lot better than Marquez. Floyd's defense, speed, and power are also better than Juan's. So now, the question would be: is a Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao fights still that mysterious? I think not.

I've believed Floyd could beat Manny ever since they started talking about the possibility of a fight 2 years ago. I still do. Unfortunately, it seems as of late that Floyd doesn't believe in himself. Forget what he says, you can see it in his actions. After watching last nights fight, I'm sure he's more confident in his ability to beat Pacquiao, which is a shame. Mayweather shouldn't need to see Marquez do well against Pacquiao to sign up to fight Manny. Floyd *is an amazing boxer, I've been a fan since the Diego Corrales fight, but hypothetically *speaking, if Floyd does fight Pacquiao now, and wins decisively, it wouldn't mean as much now, as it would've last year.

Sometimes time is of the essence, and Floyd has missed his window. Floyd fighting Manny now will seem only due to Marquez's success. A tainted megafight may be on the horizon thats if, Floyd has started to believe in himself as the rest of his fans do.

The only mystery now is if Pacquiao can get a lucky punch in against Mayweather.
