Comments Thread For: Benavidez Jr. Polishes Promise on Pacquiao Undercard

Year two of the Jose Benavidez Jr. Project is coming to a close, and so far, it’s going according to plan. The precocious 19-year-old junior welterweight from Phoenix has amassed a pristine 13-0 record, with all but one victory coming by stoppage.

I know, right?? I was thinking what a lousy matchmaker this fight had. Not only did the 6 ft tall Benavidez have a 7 inch height and a 7 inch reach advantage over his opponent, the kid he was fighting has ZERO knock outs in 11 fights. Jose litterally looked like he was fighting a midget. 5'3in tall FFS.

You would think even Jose himself would have been embarrased to fight the little guy. It's a shame too, because Jose really seems to have the goods. I don't think the matchmakers/promoters are doing some of these young talented kids any favors by putting them in with sub-par opposition for so long.
