Comments Thread For: Austin Trout-Frank LoPorto Early Results From El Paso

Later this evening at Cohen Stadium in El Paso, Texax, 154 lb. titlist Austin Trout defends against Frank LoPorto of Australia. The bout marks Trout’s third fight in 2011 after missing all of last year due to the cruel politics of the sport.

The bout serves as the main event of Showtime’s “Shobox: The New Generation” series, marking the first time he appears on American airwaves.

In the televised co-feature, unbeaten Brazilian prospect Michael Oliveira made a successful American TV debut of his own with a strangely ruled stoppage in the 8th and final round of his middleweight bout with journeyman Xavier Tolliver.

The official time was 1:31 of the 8th round. [Click Here To Read More]

This Austin Trout -LoPorto fight is a wild one.

Austin Trout keeps nailing him and I think Sylvester Stallone probably has more talent than this Rocky LaPorto (though he has some heart).

Frank LoPorto is garbage and has no jab what so ever. I can't believe he even has 15 wins on his professional career, he must have fought bums or something. Frank is not fighting like a boxer, hell, he isn't even fighting like a fighter. All he is doing is clinching constantly and barely landing anything.

Austin did his ting against a rugged awkward big hearted journeyman from down under can't wait till he fights someone better. Were still proud of him in N.M.!!!

Only thing taken from this fight other than how awful the aussie was is that Trout has zero power

hahaa I am Australian and I have never heard of Frank Laporto in my life.. And I follow alot of Aussie boxing, so that just proves Laporto is a nobody. How did Trout and his management even pick this bloke? Yes Laporto, I praise you for your heart and courage, but bro give up boxing, you cant fight for shi t.... that was just plain embarrassing... I watched the fight because I want to see how Trout goes as a fighter, because I am looking forward to Trout vs. Mundine early next year (if it ever happens)... but I dont know what to think of Trout now, it took him 6 rounds to take out this bum and still Laporto didnt get knocked out, the fight was stopped by the reff.. hmmm

                  should've been stopped earlier.
It was clear Loporto had no business being there.
He had alot of heart though, gotta give him that.

Trout didn't impress me at all tonight.

this is set up perfect. two american light middleweights with 6 round tkos in their previous bouts. trout/kirkland, let's make it happen. trout did say "anyone who feels that i don't deserve this belt, come get it" (or something along those lines).
