Yea, Vazquez-Marquez 3 was better that year definitely.

But I think this fight for whatever reason resonates on an almost emotional level with people that aren't even fans of either fighter....and in that context it is a special fight. But in terms of action, as great as it was, there are many that are better.

The best fight I've ever seen was Barrera vs Morales 1.

Cotto-Margarito while good wasn't even close. A fight like Barrera vs Morales 1 was so incredible it really made people question what exactly they were watching. It was fast, furious pace, super fine technique, hard shots, blood and everything for 12 rounds straight.

Other fights better than Cotto-Margarito :

Jose Luis Castillo - Corrales 1 (Some experts consider it the best fight ever)
Manny Pacquiao - Morales 1 and 2
Morales - Barrera 2
Rafael Marquez vs Israel Vasquez 1,2, and 3.
