Also there are enough Mexicans and Mexican Americans in the U.S. now that you can just capture that fanbase and be more than fine with just that crowd supporting you to where you dont need anyone else.

Im Mexican homie and regardless of how you feel for Oscar there are and were alot of Mexicans too besides the Mexican Americans that rooted for Oscar as well. He was disliked by some and loved by others but regardless we all tuned in to watch him fight and thats the truth.
I'm talking about Mexicans in Mexico bro. Aside from the Chavez beating, De la Hoya reps the U.S first and foremost, and let's be honest, most Mexicans don't like that. And I think that's why Mex-Am aren't as popular down here as a Mexican born and raised here (or even a real proud Mexican Chicano like Vargas or Margarito).

Look at the top 3 best PR fighters.

Did Wilfred Benitez got the chance to avenge his first defeat against ray Leonard?

Did Wilfredo Gomez got the chance to avenge his first defeat against Salvador Sanchez?

Did Felix Trinidad got the chance to avenge his first defeat against Bernard Hopkins?

      This is a big deal.
Here I thought you were a shit poster and now you became even shittier. Talk about a fanatic!! Sucks I can't red K you again.

Gomez-Zarate was one of the first, if not the first major fight in the rivalry. I don't think no fight in the history of boxing has the highest KO ratio between two opponents. Fight was huge!

Just pure hype and what the fight means to each country. When you look back at Trinidad-Campas do you get as much emotion as the Cotto-Margarito rematch? My answer is no that was a good fight and both had a lot of hype behind them like Campas who was compared to Chavez Sr but I didn't feel the emotion the do or die situation were winning means more than a world title or money.

Ok, So if its hype then yes, its up there and I agree with you. I must wait until that weekend (dec 3rd) to judge to atmosphere around the MSG. I have been to several PR-Mexico fights/weighin (including Cotto-Margs I) so I can give my side after I see it but everything is leading to this being a big weekend for the rivalry.

but If Tito vs DLH 2 or Sanchez vs Gomez 2 would've happened, those woulda had alot of hype leading into those.

For me this is the biggest fight in the Mex-PR rivalry, which i think is great for boxing, but some people take to racial levels, which is wrong. I been a die-hard Cotto fan ever since he started his pro career, and don't take it personal, but i just really don't like Margo. I was butthurt bigtime when he beat Cotto and Cotto take that dam knee.

But hey, who kows what could have happened if he didn't...would he have a messed up eye like Tony does now? Dec 3rd just can't get here fast enough!!!! I seriously doubt there will be any ko, just a win on points.

Finally someone understands. The hype for this fight is huge even people in my family who know nothing about sports are talking about this fight.

Im Mexican homie, I was born there and although I have lived in the U.S. since I was 3 yrs old, half of my family lives over there and I always visit them. DLH reps the U.S. because he was born there and he has no choice but he always makes sure that he always reps his Mexican heritage also. Remember him always waving the Mexican flag as well as the U.S. flag? And to be honest with you, all the people in Mexico know exactly who he is and they like him but the difference is that they LOVE Chavez which is why you will find some people that are indifferent towards him and some that dislike him as well.

Either way though it took the love and support of all the Mexicans in Mexico, all the Mexicans in the U.S. and all the Mexican-Americans in the U.S. to make Oscar what he is and as successful/rich as he has become.

Never even tought of that!!!! that would be the perfect promotion for the fight! Pacquiao-Marquez will get from 800k to 1.2 million buys and taking 15 minutes to promote the next big PPV makes perfect sense!
