Comments Thread For: Berto-Ortiz Rematch Looms as The IBF Title Vacated

Welterweight contender Andre Berto has vacated his IBF title in favor of a lucrative rematch with Victor Ortiz, which may take place in late January on HBO. Ortiz handed Berto his first career defeat, by unanimous decision, in a Fight of The Year contender in April. Randall Bailey was Berto's mandatory, and the IBF was pressing for the fight, but none of the major networks were interested in picking it up.

    Lets get it on!!!

    50-50 fight.

I expect a closer fight the second time around.

    I'm favoring Ortiz.

no way the fight is as good as the first one. I'd probably favor berto slightly in the rematch though. Depends if ortiz still has that same fire which I doubt.

I hope they make Bailey vs mike jones for that vacant title.

Good for hbo taking a stand against berto with his bullshlt fights. This has
nothing with berto wanting to avenge his lost to ortiz but more of hbo
forcing him to fight ortiz. If berto dont clinch as much as his last fight
with ortiz,Then i got ortiz by ko.

it's not berto's fault Bailey was his mandatory. Berto is just going after the money and what the fans want, not sure what else is to be said on the matter.

great decision berto.you were being over paid and HBO was making good money off you too.glad you made the right decision win, lose,or draw. and if ortiz can get the right mind set. he can rule 147 because pacquiao and the great mayweather are on their way out.
