So Golden Boy "cashed out" on Kirkland?

Some of yall claimed Golden Boy was casing out on Ortiz and he pulled off a huge upset over Berto. Now, a lot of you claimed Golden Boy was cashing out on Kirkland and he pulled off a bigger upset than Ortiz!!

Makes the win that much sweeter. I ain't gonna lie though, when Angulo dropped him I thought it was over. Glad that KO loss didn't ruin him.

Props to GBP for putting their guys in with real opposition and making Fight Of The Year quality matches.

LOL I remember the Ortiz one. And not only that but he was winning 3 of 4 rounds in fight against Floyd.

I never thought GB were cashing out on Kirkland either, he is good but has too many flaws though. Last night Angulo with a bad training camp and sluggish and slow still connected clean in the 3rd-4th. So imagine a normally prepared Angulo or any other top name.

Angulo and Kirkland are both goldenboy fighters, didn't matter who won for them. It probably helps them out more that Kirkland won tho since he was coming off a loss recently. But then again, it could have hurt them that Kirkland won since Angulo had a pretty good size Mexican following. They better hope Africans, fight fans really start supporting Kirkland but I doubt it. Paul Williams had a **** fanbase and he was all action.

What the hell for? I'm glad I saw a great fight on regular HBO, boxing needs fights like these at no charge. Fuck PPV!

Wait, you're saying Ortiz was winning 3 or 4 rounds against Floyd???? Sorry, but I gotta respond to that. In round 1, neither did much as it was pretty slow paced, but Floyd landed more punches and the cleaner punches with those straight rights. In round 2, Ortiz got him on the ropes a couple times, but Floyd still out landed throughout the round (13 power shots to 8 total shots for Ortiz). It was pretty even, you may give Ortiz a SLIGHT edge in the 2nd. In the 3rd, it was ALL Floyd. It was statistically one one of most one sided rounds in recent memory for Floyd. In the 4th, it was all Floyd the first 2 minutes. He landed straight rights almost at will, and even stunned Ortiz int eh opening seconds of round briefly. The last minute, Ortiz got him on the ropes twice and landed 5-6 clean punches, but Floyd still landed several punches the last minute as well. That was Floyd's round, especially with the headbutt thing.

Floyd landed 73 punches to 26 for Ortiz. Floyd landed 35% of his punches to 18% for Ortiz, and Floyd is a slow starter. Floyd even out worked Ortiz, throwing more punches. When is the last time Floyd threw over 200 punches in the first 4 rounds??? He usually throws like 400-450 punches for an entire fight.

I don't see how Victor won more than a round at the best. 2 judges had all three rounds to Floyd and one gave Ortis the 1st. Also, about 6-7 of the landed punches by Ortiz were rabbitt punches when they were clinched.

Floyd even walked Ortiz down for most of the fight, something NO ONE thought would happen.

I just prefer to see this as Golden Boy doing what Top Rank doesn't do AS OFTEN, which is putting potentially entertaining fights on for the fans and delivering, win, lose or draw.

Remember when we all thought Maidana/Morales was a mismatch and Morales showed his cojones and came back to make it competitive in a FOTY candidate?

                Morales is a bad-ass.

                Same with Ortiz/Berto...

I disagree. Hell, even Mayweather-Ortiz had drama, excitement and a nice twist at the end.
