Because Burns would hug like a f*g with ridiculous frequency when Katsidis would get close, leaving the back of Burns' head as the only possible target for the punches Mike was trying to throw. If you really believe Mike was anywhere close to an equal initiate of those hugfests, you're way beyond any state of delusion previously ascribed to you.
