HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Panama’s Guillermo Jones successfully defended his WBA cruiserweight title, stopping Mike Marrone in the sixth round Saturday night at Hard Rock Live Arena. Jones improved to 38-3-2 with his 30th knockout. Marrone dropped to 20-4. Jones overpowered the outmatched Marrone with an array of head and body punches. Late in the fifth round, Jones had the first of two knockdowns, dropped Marrone with a right to the head. Marrone, from Vero Beach, Fla., reached his feet at the count of eight.

guillermo ain't a bad fighter. . . another name to throw in the deepening cruiserweight division. . . hernandez, cunningham, huck, lebedev, tarver, green, wlodarcyzk (or however u spell the polish dudes name who split fights with cunningham), ryan coyne who doesn't look that bad for a noobie, and guillermo. . . if only cunningham's daddy, POPPA ADAMEK would return to cruiser where he belongs! eddie chambers should also come to cruiser.

Too bad he can't just beat up Lebedev or Kayode or Huck or Hernandez.

It's incredible what this former welterweight has accomplished.

Just making it to a heavyweight title fight after starting in the pros at 147 is an incredible feat.

I just wish he was more active.

I think he could but needs to fight more, a shame because he is a good fighter with an excellent jab.

I'd love to see Jones vs BJ Flores. That would be a war....

I think Jones would seriously **** him up.

I don't think people realize how hard he hits when he gets you flush.

Jones should get all he can now as he probably only has a year or two max to be viable.

It wouldn't be a war as Flores doesn't engage as such but he still would lose....if Jones moves up in wt as soon as he fights a somewhat talented guy, for get the Klitches, he 's out...he wouldn't beat Aereola or Chambers or Thompsonr...emember the HvyWts are the weakest division in boxing...
