    Dangers of "moving straight back"

Fighters are always warned to give their opponent lateral movement and NEVER "move straight back". Just ask Zab Judah what happens when you momentarily disregard this boxing basic.

Here's another dramatic look at a fighter who learns that fading straight back will put you on your back, in a hurry.

moving straight back can be advantagious if you punch while doing it.

Some people can get away with it though. VK and Ali are two that come to mind (height and quickness being the things that allowed them to do it).

Actually you can walk straight back, but only if you are punching.
Doing it without throwing punches is unacceptable.
