They should train this guy to fight with a Corrie Sanders type of style.

The first Mexican Heavyweight champion IIRC is Cain Velasquez...UFC Heavyweight champion. I always thought it was John Ruiz but he isnt mexican.

Whats UFC got to do with boxing?

This guy needs to drop at least 20-30lb if he is going to make any impact.

It's a shame that a man who obviously possesses some skill and ability can't keep himself in shape. Very difficult to take a prospect who isn't willing to put in the work in the gym too seriously. It will eventually show in a fight.

I hope he gets his act together eventually but I can't say I put too much faith in it.

no way in hell that guy wakes up and runs every day or eats right

                no way in hell.

"not the body type" was arreola's excuse for years. sure, he's no muhammad ali, but that's not going to excuse the tens of lbs of loose flesh he could easily lose if he dedicated himself.

you need to eat a ****load to get like that. this isnt a new phenomenon
in eras with in shape heavyweights these guys were recognized for what they were; not in peak condition

and all of a sudden he stops drinking beer like a fish (word has it that arreola would drink a case of beer in a night if he was on a tear) and stops eating stuff off the taco truck and lo and behold he loses 30 lbs quickly

he's not a prospect in the least to me looking like that
he had some nice skills but they dont mean anything

                just look at him

he has 30 lbs to lose at least.
                probably fifty

how hard are you really working looking like that?

edit : evidently he came down from 3 bones in '09
good for him for that. he's certainly working hard if he's lost 50 lbs. lets see him lose the next 40-50 lol!

this shouldnt be taken the wrong way

i hope that it is not

in my experience with mexicans in boxing i've found them generally to be smaller guys. ww's. mw's. lw'.s fw's.

some of my favorite fighters ever are mexicans
i adore the mexican professional style and the notion that a fight should be fought at very little more than an arms length away at all times.

the HW mexicans ive seen are not big guys. not saying there's not some 6'6 235 lb ripped teenager in tijuana right now, i'm just saying i havnt seen him yet in boxing

arreola is the biggest, and i think at his absolute peak of conditioning he wouldn't weight a ton more than 200 lbs

                    maybe 215ish

its just a smaller population of guys. no different from the phillipines, japan, etc. you dont see any japanese HW (though there have been a few in MMA)
if they are in dog shape most athletic dudes from mexico, japan, the phillipines are in the weight classes

my guess would be that this guy could probably make CW, but figts at HW for the money and because you can go into the ring looking like that and get paid for it

ps: funniest signiture on the site

edit: looking at his boxrec the guy was almost 3 bills starting his career

kudos to him for losing all that
that would also add to his loose appearance. he's lost 50 lbs since '09

maybe he can make something of himself after all

certainly not breaking out the anointing oil, though.

True. He could probably lose up to 50lb the guy is a mess. He started at 297 he is now 253. I think he should aim to be in the low 230lb by the end of 2012 and in the 210-220 mark by 2013. He might need an operation to get rid of all the excess stretched skin though.
