    Don't let Gamboa/Rios follow the Gamboa/Lopez model...

    Make the fight asap!

I'd personally love to still see Gamboa vs Lopez, but the fire was immediately lost when Lopez lost. When we're dealing with young and undefeated fighters with 20-30+ fights, we don't need to let the anticipation build. Build the fight on the fact that these fighters are young, talented and in their prime and it will sell itself. Especially if it ends up being a great fight between fighters who don't know how to lose.

I think about Tito-Ferocious. If the fight didn't happen when it did, there was no telling what would have happened to Vargas' and Trinidad's 0 on their record.

I just don't see how Gamboa/Rios can happen. Doesn't make any sense to me.

I think Rios will be at 140 after another fight. Gamboa can get to 130.

Gamboa/Lopez were in the same weight class, that's why it was such a shame. This fight honestly, it's a fantasy fight it doesn't really matter if it happens or not.

also, I don't understand it from Top Rank's point of view either. Rios is on his way of becoming a star. At 140 pounds there are a ton of fights to be made.

Gamboa is also steadily climbing as an attraction.

So for Top Rank to put them in the ring together, when they don't have to, I just don't see how that makes any sense. If Gamboa gets crushed, that's not going to help is career. If Rios gets crushed, that doesn't help his career.

It's not like when Top Rank made Cotto vs Margarito because they were the two best in the same division, that fight had to happen. And it was a pretty big event. Gamboa/Rios however, they are separated by a couple weight classes and it wouldn't be a big event. No reason to make it. There wasn't a high demand for it so I don't know why they are suddenly talking about it.
