I suppose. But this isn't like Gamboa/Lopez where there was a demand being that they were in the same division. No one even thought of gamboa vs rios since they are separated by a couple weight classes. It's weird. There was no demand for the fight in the first place thus no marinating or whatever.
Rios is on his way to become a star there are plenty of good fights for him to make at 135/140. Gamboa while he probably wont be a big star he's an attraction and there are good fights for him still.
Maybe the bob has some masterplan. I just don't see it.Comment

I would have to pick Rios just off his size and the fact we've never seen Gamboa above 130. I would like to pick Gamboa but I think he's a bit too small and I'm not so sure his power would carry with him at 135.Comment

remember when Gamboa said he wanted Manny? he was dead serious according to people I know and told TR that he wanted a fight with Rios then move to 142ish and fight Manny.
This makes all the sense in the world for TR they add another name to the Manny sweepstakes that can be done in house with the winner of this fight.Comment

I think the thought is the overall bigger picture

Thanks Eaner, I didn't see the obvious.Comment

Yes this is what I like to hear because people have to realize that Gamboa is turning 30 years old next month. He's not some 24 or 25 year old ammeter kid coming up, he's a full grown man. He won't have any problem moving up 135 and a lot of people don't know because he wasn't on a national stage then but If you look at some of Gamboa fights earlier in his career he was fighting at and above 130.
vs Walter Estrada - 130lb - feb 09
vs Samuel Kebede - 132lbs - Oct 07
vs Thomas Hengstberger - 130lbs - Sept. 07
vs Joel Mayo - 133 1/2 lbs - july 07
vs Araik Sachbazjan - 132lbs - June 07Last edited by Realizniguhnit; 11-02-2011, 12:18 PM.Comment

That would be a great action fight!
Gamboa beats Bam Bam, too fast...
I also think he will carry his power with him well.
There's always the possibility with Gamboa that he gets caught with something, but a) he has always gotten up easily so far and b) he fought a lot smarter recently.
