    Wilfredo Gomez title bout????

i was looking his fight on boxrec.com and shows he fought Sakad Petchyindee for the WBC Banthaweight title.

but Sakad only had 2 fights prior to fighting for the title!!

does anybody know anything about it???

Thats pretty ****en crazy. But look at the guys that dude with the 2-0 record beat

            1978-01-14 Hisami Mizuno 122 23-7-0
            Briram, Thailand W KO 6 10

            1977-11-10 Juan Antonio López 40-6-0
            ****kok, Thailand W PTS 10 10

Maybe he had a lenghty amatuer carreer.

Edit: Nevermind thoses dudes were nobodies. BrownBomber is prabobly right.

I came across this topic a few hours ago after loading Gomez fights on BaltazarBrothersII on youtube. I noticed he fought a Thai and was even more intrigued when I saw that he traveled to Thailand to fight him. There must have been some incentive for doing this financially and it turns out that Sakad Petchyindee is a legendary Muay Thai kickboxer considered one of the greatest of all-time with over 300 fights in there with the likes of the UK's Donnie Green. I am thinking the offer was made to the WBC for this special attraction fight and Team Gomez accepted. Again I just started reading up on this topic and a few questions keep popping up.

Is the Sakad Petchyindee that fought Gomez the same person who is considered the great Muay Thai fighter?

Why did the WBC rank a Muay Thai practitioner with only two recorded fights?

I also have a channel called JunglesOfThailand where I will be showcasing Thai Boxers. Swing by in about two weeks to see some of the newest boxing talent on the scene.
