Rios has been tested at 135 and no one knows how Gamboa will do at 130, let alone 135. Until I see Gamboa in the higher weights, it's hard just to gauge him just from speed alone.
Predictions for Yuriorkis Gamboa vs. Brandon Rios @135

gamboa is draining himself to make featherweight.
if gamboa has even a 10th of his ability at 135 he'll outbox & bloody up rios..........also rios will be stopped in his tracks by gamboas power (which will be underrated going into the fight)Last edited by americanbot; 10-30-2011, 02:00 PM.Comment

I got Rios by KO..Gamboa is very talented, but let's be honest he does not take punches well..Unless Manny helps his defense I got Rios by brutal KO..Comment

I agree,he also pumps his jab consistently and does not waste punches..Comment

This is along the lines of what I see.
The way Gamboa fought his last bout against Ponce De Leon appears to be his blueprint for Rios. Yuri will use his superior speed and mobility to out-box "Bam Bam" for much, or most, of the fight. But I don't foresee him keeping Brandon at bay all night. If/when Rios finally catches up with him, Gamboa might not be able to weather the storm. Brandon is much bigger and apparently stronger than Yuri. If the fight goes the distance, "El Ciclon" has a good chance. Right now, I think Rios takes this one on a late stoppage.
I'll be rooting for Gamboa....Comment

That's a sick fight but Gamboa should test the waters carefully by taking a couple of fights at 130-135 first. If he goes in headfirst to 135 against Ríos, it'd be a very ballsy move on his part.Comment

Hard to say since we have never seen Yuri above 126 in p4p terms Gamboa hands down is better. If Gamboa moves up without sacrificing much he beats Rios though Brandon would make him work guy is a ****ing warriorComment

I honestly dont see where this comes from all of the kds Gamboa suffered were at the start of his career because of him being over reckless and were flash kds ive never seen Yuri hurt in a fightComment

Gamboa has the speed and reflexes to move up to what ever weight he wants. Doesn't mean he'll beat Rios thoughComment
