NABO featherweight uses POT in training!

NABO featherweight praises marijuana in High Times
A reader alerted us to a boxing article from an unusual source, the current issue of a marijuana-oriented magazine called "High Times." The article outlines the bizarre training regimen of NABO featherweight champion Tiger Smalls. According to the article, Smalls smokes a "blunt" seven times a day. (A blunt is a cigar that has had the tobacco inside replaced with marijuana). Smalls is pictured proudly holding "a bud" and is quoted as saying that sparring while high is "like playing a video game." Tiger, who is rated #5 by the WBO, recently narrowly missed getting a title shot at WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison, but it is unlikely this type of publicity will help his credibility or career.

Pacman gulps down "Red Bull" energy drink, but this guy smokes seven "cigar-sized" pot joints a day???!!! Repeat, 7 cigar-sized joints!!!!! In training!?!? (I suppose all of us know what a cigar looks like, as compared to an ordinary joint)

If the dude tests positive for Maryjane after a fight, he will be fined and stripped of his win (assuming he wins) and any title he holds. Ask Greg Haugen.

So do I. It doesn't mess with my endurance and it helps me recover after a hard workout. It also helped my mental reflexes in the ring.

I'm not really well-versed on boxing rules, but is pot allowed on official bouts?

If pot is part of a boxer's training regimen, I think it will greatly affect his mental condition, reflexes and overall performance if he is not able to take it during a fight.

They don't drug test in the amateurs, so I'm good. I don't smoke on days that I fight and my trainer doesn't allow me to smoke when I'm in camp. It helps my reflexes because when I shadow box when I'm high, all these new moves come to me, and I practice counterpunching and it's crazy. I always smoke after a fight, though.

This is really funny, I hope you don't get into a laughing trip while sparring. I can almost imagine a stoned boxer laughing his heart out every time he missed or everytime he got hit!!!
