We are talking in a matter of 8 months each fighter was beaten, had their title taken, and struggling to get back on their feet. Then, within 1-2 tune ups, they were defeated again by Pacquiao. Remember, Pacquiao only fights guys coming off losses.
Any real fan who was watching boxing back then remembers what really happened. Tszyu demanded a 60/40 split and priced himself out of a fight. Ironically Tszyu got blasted in his fight with Hatton, who afterwards went up to face Mayweather.

Pacquiao has avoided champions .. seeking vacant belts. He's also used catchweights to drain fighters and come in on fight night larger than them. There's proof if you want it.

It was that Mayweather TOTALLY destroyed Hatton's confidence, and therefore his will to perservere was destroyed. Hatton was saying it after the fight. He fired his trainer, hired Mayweather's father, and came in swinging for the fences against Pacquiao. Mayweather Sr and Hatton himself said that Hatton had COMPLETELY abandoned everything they had worked on to land a home run shot.
