Comments Thread For: Nathan Cleverly Has To Face Dmitry Suhotsky in 2012

The WBO has approved Dmitry Suhotsky (18-1, 13KOs) for a mandatory shot at the full light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (23-0, 11KOs). No orders were given regarding a negotiations period or a purse bid date, but the fight is being pushed by Suhotsky's side for the first quarter of 2012. Suhotsky captured the vacant WBO Intercontinental light heavyweight title in October 2010 and made two defenses of the title.

I doubt it, Cleverly will probably struggle through this fight though.

He strong and durable. He gave Breahmer a tough fight and had him going around the 10th and was close to stopping the German.

Good test for Cleverly - we can see if he's learning and improving technically, defensively etc, as he isn't ready for the elite of the division.

Fights like this can help bring you on no end. This'll be a tough fight. Like i said he's strong has good power and is solid himself.

I agree with Saj. This is a good stepping-stone fight for Cleverley.. He's not quite ready for the likes of Hopkins, Pascal, Dawson and Cloud, so having a fight like this will do him good as far as gaining him experience and keeping him active.

After that he should unify against Braehmer.

lol ya Sukhotsky was unloading on Brahmer and he was basically out on his feet and the ref called a break in the action for no reason at all and gave Brahmer a good 15 seconds or more to recover then re-started it. It should have been a TKO if it weren't for German officiating.

Sukhotsky is World level he isn't some journeyman chump like Kuziemski or Bellow who Clevery both managed to have issues with. I'd heavily favor Sukhotsky.
