At some level, I think we all knew Floyd never wanted to fight Manny, what a crying shame......
NOW that we know Pac's ready to take unlimited olympic style testing? NOW? But since pac said hes ready NOW its floyd who never really wanted the fight? Didnt Pac already say he didint need floyd?

Errr... Uhhhhh... It says here that Golden Boy Promotions (aka Schaefer) are the ones releasing the #s, with Ellerbe giving commentary... but no mention of Mark Taffet and HBO anywhere... these aren't the real #s

Also, what the hell happened to my Comedian wake thread? I was going to start the bid for his account

i wouldn't say he's a nobody,,,but people are forgetting something here..alvarez and morales, two popular mexican fighters were on this ppv, they helped with this too not just floyd, canelo is very popular with the mexican fans and morales, well he's morales and was fighting for the title, believe me they helped out a lot with the ppv,but all credit is going to floyd and thats wrong,i wonder how floyd would do against say berto and a non hispanic undercard..he won't go over one million thats for sure..and before somebody brings up the mosley fight, there were mexican fighters on there too,i believe canelo was on there..so don't mention that one

So if you do the math, if he didn't make those high numbers and he publicly says their high, his fighter will be demanding a ppv cut based on those publicly inflated numbers.

What's so hard to comprehend here.
When he claims that, he isn't claiming it officially via press reports in hard writing. He's claiming it verbally. There's a big difference legally. Fighters can demand more money based on the verbal comment, but then when you bring the lawyers out and the paperwork comes into play, they will find out that they can't demand more money because it wasn't there in the first place.

And this goes for many things in this life. You can verbally announce that you graduated from Harvard University with a PhD. But if there is a time when that information needs to be verified, for whatever reason, people will demand official hardcopies backing up the validity of your verbal comments.

You think it's just a mere coincidence that Arum and company never bothered releasing official press releases verifying his comment?

Assuming that figure is correct, (the gate was reported at $9 mill, making 87 mill.) The PPV people get 50% then EVERYBODY else has to be paid by the promoter, including Mayweather's $25 mill guarantee ($40 mill according to him) not to mention Ortiz and all the other fighters, and EVEYTHING to do with the event, even paying for the plastic cups and spoons, etc. I wonder if Golden Balls were out of pocket. They couldn't have made much-if anything. Mayweather's guarantee ruins any real promoter profit.

Manny has outsold Floyd in each of those years. It is simple math Manny fans are being asked to buy 8 fights in 4 years to Floyd's 3. So, yes Floyd might have .25 higher numbers per one night. But, on sure numbers Manny numbers kills Floyd. I don't understand how you can be the PPV king when you don't sell the most PPVs. During the last 4 years Manny fans had 8 fights to chose from if they only tunned into half that's more than Floyd's 3. Asking fans to shell out $440 is a lot more than $170. A great marketing tool to get one night numbers. Hey Floyd fans see something that happens once every 16 months vs. Hey Pacquiao fans see something that happens every 6 months. More is more. If Floyd fought more his per fight numbers will drop because people will not shell out the same to see him fight Ortiz every six months. But every 16 months is not asking much to see your guy even if he is fighting an relative unknown. Not trying to start a Floyd vs. Pac war on here but I just have a problem when guys like Schafer tries to pull wool over the public's eyes. In the last 4 years Manny has sold more PPV fights period end of story. He is the PPV king... The Mc Rib out sells the Big Mac for 4 weeks a year. But, the Big Mac out sells the Mc Rib Every Year. If you want to know why his one night numbers are slightly higher, I think I answered that above... The guy who sell the most PPV a year is the PPV king. Is that hard to understand???
Excellent post!! Don't forget Golden Boy has to put their Mexican stars (Canelo and Morales) on the card to pump up "Floyd's" PPV buys.

why is everyone obsessed with PPV sales nowadays? its like as if boxing fans dont care about the sport anymore they now care more about sales and finance/purses when competing with each other e.g. pac fans vs floyd fans

Great number with that said, I'm not buying any other Mayweather or Pacquaio fight unless it's them fighting each other. I'm glad I didn't bought Mayweather-Ortiz and Pacquiao-Mosley. Feel sorry for the fans that are getting ripped off out of these ****ty pay per views.

This same nonsense has been happening with music too. No one is getting a coin from the sales of either fighters. These are amazing times, broke people worrying about how another rich guy manages to one-up another rich guy.

How are these good numbers when Pac-Mosley did 1.3 mill on SHO which is in way less homes across the country and hasn't had a PPV in years?

At the end of the year, Pacquiao will singlehandedly of sold more than twice all the GBP's PPV's of the year combined.
