Comments Thread For: Frankie Gavin Withdraws, Frank Warren is Furious

BoxingScene.com can confirm that Frankie Gavin has withdrawn from tomorrow night’s WBO Intercontinental welterweight title defence against France’s Frank Haroch Horta. The bout was due to take place at Salford’s Bowlers Exhibition Centre and was to be carried by BoxNation. It was to be Gavin’s first outing under his new training team of Jimmy and Mark Tibbs only for Frankie to walk away from the bout citing personal reasons.

Well personal reasons and personal, you can't really blame him if it's what he feels. Just how personal the situation is, however, is a mystery. I wonder what actually happened.

"Personal reasons"... it's probably just a euphemism for eating too many pies.

He was on Bunce's boxing hour the other night saying how geared up he was, he didn't seen distracted by anything, just laughing and joking away. He also said how happy he was with Team Tibbs. But I suppose its not like he would come out on TV and pour his heart out is it, he's obviously going to have a front on.

Bit strange though, to me it sounds like Warren is saying he just ran away, vanished and ended up at Anthony Farnell's house.

Dude isn't serious about boxing. Can't make fighting weight. Let down his country at the Olympics and has looked ordinary since challenging his domestic opposition.

This guy is the definition of a waste man. He will NEVER make it with this attitude. This idiot will never learn. He couldn't even drop weight on time to make the Olympic team and now he is about to screw up his relations with Frank but knowing how Warren operates, he has no choice but to keep hold of Gavin because he is talented.

What a waste of talent. This guy simply doesnt seem to have the desire to build his career, which is very sad because of his considerable potential.

I would fight Horte for 10grand, Ive never boxed though but if I had Gavins skill I would fight for 10grand and sort the problems out later.
