Comments Thread For: Six-Figure Bonus Possibly at Stake in Next Donaire Fight

After challenger Omar Narvaez gave the Madison Square Garden Theater faithful a less-than-memorable performance over 12 rounds last Saturday night, Top Rank president Todd duBoef has decided to entice the next opponent of WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire with a little cold, hard cash--$100,000 to be exact.

$100K should be more than enough to entice fighters to come to win. Promoter should've employed this years ago.

          PPPPPFFFFTTTTT!!!!!!

How about putting him with someone who can win, plenty of guys at 126-22lbs, let the little guys fight themselves, the last fight was a waste of Nonito's time and the fans money. Well, at least he is moving up.

They should have done this for Pacquiao-Mosley and Pacquiao Clottey.

LOL Nonito described this as a $100,000 bounty on his head.

I've got an idea. How about they put him in with someone who's his size? Or as good as him? Maybe they can try that first.

The last guy he fought was at least two weight classes smaller. He never had a shot. It's their fault.

For such a smart fellow, he shows us here that he's aptly named "beefhead". Any bonus should be given to the opponent IF he fights well enough to deserve it. The goal is not to make Donaire fight better, he's getting the lion's share of the purse anyway, and, as champion, he's expected to fight his best. Because in the past he put on good performances is the reason that fans come to see him and why he gets the big fee.

A silly error, of a kind often made by smart people who get an idea but don't think it through. This "bonus" is really showing that Top Rank doesn't have confidence in their champion that he'll fight his best.
