          Didn't he fight Chris Eubank?

Keep those Eubank-related threads comin', JuyJuy, there's never enough of 'em on here.

Great read Juy thanx, looking back on that tragic fight Michael looked unbeatable that night against Eubank (rematch) he really did.

Rod Douglas was a hot prospect , young lion who just kept coming at Bomber , Douglas supposed to be Benns cheif rival .Lennox Lewis said that Rod Douglas was every bit as good as he was.

Rod Douglas was the ****, he was robbed at the 1984 Olympics to Shawn O'Sullivan who went on to win Silver for Canada, he won a Gold Medal at the 1986 Commonwealth Games (Lennox Lewis also won a Gold there). Douglas won the ABA's in 83, 84, 85 and 87. He had a couple of real barn-burners with Nigel Benn in the amateurs, awesome wars.. at the West Ham divs final in 85 and 86, Douglas beat Benn in 85 (Benn's first and last loss in the amateurs) but Benn beat Douglas in 86 (Douglas had only ever lost to Michael Watson in 1982 and robbed at Olympic previous to that) and then Benn won the ABA's in 86 and turned pro soon after. Douglas was a real bad boy from the streets, very rough but so was Benn. Douglas' handlers and Benn's handlers both agreed that they needed to wait for the right time before Douglas and Benn met in the pro's, they had to build the fight up over time so there was more money involved and just wait until they were both well-known (very similar to McClellan and Jones Jr).

Yeh ive seen a few Douglas fights and he was the full load, very ambitious though he said after one of his fights in 88 that he could beat any middle weight in the world right there and then i think his peeps pushed him in with Bomber Graham a little too quickly though, such a shame cos he was a hot prospect but Bomber just countered him to pieces. i think Douglas may of been an even better prospect than Benn and Watson, just as aggressive as Benn but not carrying the same power as Benn,
