If Floyd did over 1 million against a nobody I'd say that's pretty good.

Ortiz ain't exactly a nobody homie. . . He had been hyped up for HBO for two years. . . Coming off a fight of the year candidate with berto. . . the incident with maidana, and before the maidana fight HBO even did the little 15 minute backstory on him. . .

He is a mexican-american and was fighting on mexican independence day. . .

1.15 is a solid number. even if you consider 300k for morales/canelo, that's still a good 800k for floyd. pac did 700 against clottey, a similarly unknown opponent at the time.

HBO continued to highlight and showcase him. . . Obviously it set him back, but in terms of being "well known" it probably HELPED HIM - because so many people were talking about "that guy with no heart."

And then after the Berto fight?! That had THE BOXING WORLD talking? Took the boxing world by storm!

GTFO - Ortiz was just as good of a B-side opponent as Mayweather could have had. . .

              I concur Leohappy, I concur good sir. . . It's not a bad number at all. . .

I guess in comparison to the "1.5 million plus" they were predicting, it's a bit of a disappointment. . . but in reality, it's pretty damn good. . .

Do you even watch boxing or do u just cheerleader for Pacquiao/Mayweather crap...Ortiz/Berto had the boxing world talking a whole bunch...and then Mayweather fought the new champ...and Pacquiao fought a beltless Mosley...did you even watch Ortiz-Berto? that was an amazing fight...it will probably be fight of the year for 2011...
