I think it was at least $4 million. Hopkins got less.

according to most of you tito had no boxing skills whatsoever ...but for a guy with no skills i think he did pretty well ...longest raining welterweight champion in history , 3 weight div champ ...ended careers reid, vargas, joppy ....always fought the best competition available to him which can't be said for alot of fighters!!!!!!!

Trinidad was excellent at welterweight. That was easily his best weight and he looked great. Really strong, and fast at that weight. He is very underated because of the Winky fight. He just lacked a basic plan to beat Winky with. Only landed about 1 or 2 meaningful punches the whole fight.

Tito has been an amazing talent for the sport I love but he did not I repeat did not always fight the best opposition avaluable.

He was in the top 5 p4p yet number two in his division to a guy name...Pernell Whitaker in 1995...yet he chose to fight Whitaker years later.

Ike Quartey was another man that for 1 reason or another never got the nod to face Tito...look at the rankings in 1995 and you will wonder why Tito didnt face a couple of fighters (most notably Quartey and Whitaker)

For the record I think Tito KO's Ike in an amazing fight but would have been undressed vs a 1995 version of Sweat Pea.

WTF is wrong with you Scap?

He fought Whitaker in feb/99, DLH in Sept/99, Reid in March/00, Vargas in Dec/00, Joppy in May/01, and Nard in Sept/01. Nuff said.

                  READ MY POST BORUK!

Im not talking about 1999 or 2000...Tito fought a ton of great fighters and more times then not fought the best available opponent but the FACT is that while he was in the top 5 p4p in 1995 he never fought the 1 man that was ahead of him in his divison which was Pernell Whiatker. Why?...Did he think it would make a better fight if he waited 4 year?

Again Boruk I dont care that he fought a shot Whitaker, he didnt face the Whitaker that would have undoubtedly undressed him. Ike Quartey was right behind Tito as well yet they never fought.

Not denying that Tito isnt great just responding to a post that said he always fought the best...in 1995 it is clear he did not fight the best!

                  Look forward to your response...

Maybe Don didn't want to put his young champ against the best fighter in the sport at that time...I think that you are blaming Tito for not fighting Sweet Pea, but IMO at that time Don was the one who called the shots not Tito.

Your probably 100% correct...who in there right mind would have wanted to fight a defensive southpaw like Whitaker...cant argue with that at all...if I was King I would have done the same exact thing.

                      But...

Im not Don King...Im a fight fan and when another fan states that Tito always fought the best I simply have to disagree...he usually fought the best.

I dont mean to be too hard on your boy Tito but I never rooted for the guy(I spent my enitre life rooting against him and watching him make me look bad)...I miss him very badly however as you may no sometimes your dislike for a fighter makes you an even bigger fan of theirs then if you loved a fighter...I loved Tito but man I hated him...if that makes sense?
