Marquez said something interesting on 24/7.....

In the first episode of Pac-Marquez 24/7, Marquez said that if he would've won the fights against Pacquiao more decisively he would be in the position Pacquiao is in right now (global superstar, "#1" P4P, etc.). Do you think that's true?

No. Pac was a top fighter in 2004 but not P4P number one. It would have been a great win, but then Pac would not have gottent to the level that JMM would need him to be at for a win in the 2nd fight to mean that much.

Bro I was just thinking about that these last few days. Was thinking about posting it. I got two things from that:

        1) Marquez has had that inside eating him up for a while which explains why he's wanted a third fight so bad and why he is preparing for it the way he is.

        and

        2) He truly believes he is as good as Pac and he could have beat Cotto, Marg, DLH and Clottey.

It's an interesting proposition. What would have happened if Marquez would have trained with ATG trainer Roach and Ariza? I mean Marquez has some of the best skills and combinations in BOXING HISTORY.

Now I think going up in weight and being dominant is just a gift that not a lot of people have and can develop. And I'm not sure Marquez could have handled big WWs like those.

if anything i think it would have been Cotto. If cotto would have won against margarito he would likely have faced de la hoya insted of de la hoya fighting pac

Maybe at 140 tops but not above that.

I thought that was BS when I heard that too.

Bloated up Marquez vs weight drained De La Hoya at 147 in December 2008 would have probably been a war because of their styles though. But I would see DLH winning that fight because I just don't think Marquez can hold 147 like Pacquiao.

Marquez would have certainly moved on to bigger and better things though, he did knocked out two previously unknockoutable fighters in Joel Casamayor and Juan Diaz which is not bad afterall, and he became the man at 135. I would have liked to see Marquez move up to 140 and try his luck there, instead of going up to fight Floyd and now Pacquiao.

It was gonna be that. That was the plan. DLH promised the winner a fight, which he thought would be Cotto. He wanted no part of Margarito, Mosley had to take the garbage out for DLH that time.

Pacquiao is who he is today because he has successfully and decisively moved up various weight classes. Even Marquez would have won those fights against Manny decisively who wouldn't have managed the higher weights as well. Heck, he barely manages 140lbs.
