Comments Thread For: Barthelemy-Whittaker IBF Eliminator on November 18th

An IBF junior middleweight eliminator, for the number two position, has been set for November 18th at the Miami Airport Convention Center in Miami, Florida. Cuban boxer Giorbis Barthelemy (25-8-2, 10KOs) will face Charles Whittaker (37-12-2, 23 KOs) in the main event of show being promoted. Whittaker has fought 23 times and only lost once since 2001, a majority decision to Troy Rowland in April of 2004. Barthelemy had his share of ups and downs, winning some big fights and losing several others. In his last outing he scored an upset second round knockout of Derek Ennis.

the ibf's random select eliminators always make me laugh. barthelemy is a 39 year old who has fought twice since his 6 year retirement and whitaker is a 37 year old who has been fighting bums in the caymon islands. you can't make this stuff up!

The IBF would be embarrassed about this if it had the capacity to be embarrassed about anything. Barthelemy has won five of his last 12 fights, and he's actually the higher ranked of the two on boxrec. Amazing even for a sport loaded with crappy eliminators an title fights
