    You forgot Kltschko-Adamek.

    Berto-Ortiz was surprisingly good

Rios-Antillon was as good as expected even though it was short

Sturm-Macklin was surprisingly good despite the controversial decision

    Morales-Maidana was surprisingly great!

    Lopez-Salido was surprisingly good

Yeah all those fights were actually what I had in mind when I made the thread because they were all pleasnt surprises rather than must watch fights that had an incredible amount of resources invested in them like a cotto-margarito which will probably be a much more one sided affair.

And now donaire follows the trend.

Now even though its not necessarily the fault of the fighters that they were less than impressive its becoming a clear priority for boxing to change its guard soon. Because while all the focus is on what seems like the biggest fights on paper:

            Brandon rios - dominant
Amir khan - seemingly the heir apparent as boxings posterchild
            saul alvarez - breakout star
            wolak vs rodriguez - foty
I think the problem with the 3 bolded fights and fights like Bradley-Alexander and soon to be Ward-Froch and Pacquiao-Marquez IMO, is that people overrate the loser and underrate the winner. Mosley never had a chance, and while his pathetic effort was disappointing that was never going to be a great fight.

Same with Alexander against Bradley and Ortiz against Mayweather. Alexander was never going to beat Bradley, and Ortiz was never going to beat Mayweather.

Cant just blame promotional companies. The networks eat this **** up and pour insane amounts of money, time, and advertising on them because they look good on paper.

Actually I think its the complete opposite of what you said. As was the case with the donaire fight yesterday...when an opponent is brought in and isnt gonna be able to compete then the expectation becomes an impressive finish. Not necessarily the fault of the favorite that the opponent goes into survival mode but becomes disappointing nonetheless.

Exactly, most great fights happen by accident.

That is true for fights like the Donaire fight and probably the Pac-Mosley fight too. Bradley-Alexander was definitely a case of a fight people thought should have been more competitive than it was though.

It's just been a rough year for big fights. Margarito-Cotto 2 is about as guaranteed as a fight can be to deliver though, and I think Khan-Peterson will be really good. We just have to get through this year, next year has some real potential if certain fights get made.

We've also had tons of upsets this year. Look at the positive for a change.
its funny how the negatives are more memorable than the fights you mentioned.
