Hahaha, Donaire being exposed by this dude

Busting the sycophants and the swagger: Donaire, Jr. continues to cherry-pickGranville Ampong, Long Beach Boxing Examiner 10/22/2011 2:40 PM

Not really of Top Rank Godfather Robert "Bob" Arum's choosing. What the boxing fans would see tonight is the stature of Omar Narvaez, 36, being too small, too old, too slow, too short for Nonito Donaire, Jr., 27. Narvaez has just turned a bantamweight fighter overnight after being convinced to fight Donaire, Jr. last July and offered a much higher reward than any of his fights on record of his more than a decade trek in professional boxing - a sacrificial lamb to boost Donaire, Jr.'s knockout wins, to advance the less trendy marketing game.

And the sycophants and the public relations writers get the better of the fight and continue to yield to the cowardness, trying to make Donaire, Jr.'s case an appealing one.

For hardcore boxing fans, they think Donaire, Jr. is just too scared to move up this soon to fight either Gamboa or Lopez. In fact, he's forcing himself to settle down with the midgets and tried hard to show the public that he is lighter than Narvaez at the pre-fight weighing.

Arum knows that Donaire, Jr. is far from becoming a Pay-per-View attraction, that is if he insists on staying in the lower bracket and just keep barking to the Big Guns upstairs and not really wanting to fight status post fight with Narvaez. Inside report states that Donaire, Jr. really rejected the idea of signing up with other competitive fighters in the super bantamweight division. In that, he rather wants to hop around in the "midgets" division.

Here's the drawback: If Donaire, Jr. remains unwilling to move up to a much higher division than just to the super bantamweight and to the featherweight and super featherweight in the span of one year, then he might just insists and still continues to cherry-pick, then Arum might just be spending too much marketing dollars for him at a lesser return on revenue. In fact, he has already lost too much from the non-revenue generating Pinoy Power productions, which Donaire, Jr. was riding on with Top Rank years back.

"It's very hard to sell Americans 112, 115, 122, and 126 pounds," says Arum. " There's very little money down on these weight classes."

Arum wants Donaire, Jr., like what Pacquiao has been campaigning, to fight at a more acceptable weight class, to sell to the American market.

True, Arum drifts to the losing side in this promotional campaign for Donaire, Jr. The $ 750,000 that Donaire, Jr. would get out of his fight with Narvaez, who only gets $ 350,000, is truly a stripping "pareto principle" in a suicidal way.

Donaire, Jr. cannot just connect to the quasi-boxing fans and entertainment enthusiasts, which are the empowering bulk of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.'s mass marketing appeal.

Filipino-Americans are simply less supportive of him, at least according to recent survey.
