While Donaire was defending the IBF 112 lb. title he won with a knockout of Vic Darchinyan, Omar Narvaez (35-0-2, 19 KO) was in the middle of a 16-defense WBO reign in the same division. Narvaez has since also capture a WBO belt at 115 lbs., a division where Donaire was an interim titlist before moving to 118 lbs. in 2010.
