I was thinking the same thing. Unbelievable power. I have never seen anyone move heavy bag like that period. Imagine getting hit with all those combos. Makes me respect Margarito for staying there taking it like a man for 12 rounds.Comment

He's actually not moving the bag much at all. Judging from the video, it looks like a 75-100lbs. bag (probably 100lbs.). Any average boxer would generate as much psi as that and perhaps have the bag move a bit more dramatically, even.
What's so incredibly impressive about his punching here is that it's so explosive, so successive, and accurate. Each one of those shots is powerful, explosive and has a very short line to travel to the target. He doesn't telegraph his shots at all here (maybe one or two of those body shots where he almost exaggerates the motion to show off a bit to his onlookers). That's why his punches have that high-toned "cracking" sound. The technique he's demonstrating is amazing.
However, those shots (if measured for psi) wouldn't necessarily be more forceful than any other hard punching fighter of that same weight. He's deriving his punching power from speed and a mastery of kinetic linking by being completely relaxed and driving his body weight into each shot. This isn't Thomas Hearns-type power, it's unique to Manny.
Also, this isn't taking anything away from Manny. This type of punching power is actually more impressive than a Julian Jackson or Hearns kind. It's actually a bit 'magical,' if you will.Comment
