if linares could box for 12 rounds in the rematch he'd win an easy UD

the only problem is that he tried to box for 12 rounds and demarco was able to pick enough spots and pressure linares enough for his legs to fail

rematch should be lots of fun.
    make it happen.

    demarco deserves a big fight.

Linares didn't complain when the ref stopped it. In an interview shortly after the fight he didn't mention any premature stoppage, during the post fight press conference Schaefer said it was premature and they were gonna file a complaint to the commission THEN Linares comes out and says it was premature. Come on, put 2 and 2 together...

i think it was a good stoppage, the hits demarco was landing were extremely hard and clean. even roach congratulated demarco with a "great job son" after the fight.

I reckon it would've been stopped on cuts before they came out for the twelfth anyway. Was a good fight, I'd certainly tune in for a rematch.

People are acting as if the greatest fighter of all time just lost (again). I never understood all the hype around linares. Yes, he looks great at times but honestly, who has he fought? His 3 best wins, Jesus Chavez, Rocky Juarez, and Oscar Larios who were all past their primes at the time he fought them. When are people gonna wake up and see that hes just another fighter who was too hyped for his own good. Francisco Bojado, Ricardo Williams, move over, you have some company.

This. There were no complaints at the time, and he was out of energy, out of will, and taking a beating. It was a good stoppage, the end was inevitable. His only way to have survived that fight would have been to knock DeMarco out before he got knocked out, and he hadn't shifted DeMarco prior to that with the many clean shots he landed, so it wasn't on the cards.

                Premature stoppage my foot.

It was like Linares face was magnetized to DeMarco's fist in that final round.

actually roach told linares to throw combinations AND go under and out cleanly. so basically throw two or three quick punches and then get out of there before demarco can catch him on the inside. but linares chose to stay on the inside and just trade combinations, which wasn't the smartest thing, but it was just his warrior mentality to stand and trade.

I also thought it was a tad premature; especially since he won every single round aside the 11th. However, he sure as hell didn't complain after the stoppage!!!
