Bernard Hopkins says he won't retire

PHILADELPHIA -- Bernard Hopkins says he will not retire because of an injured shoulder and a controversial call that cost him his WBC light heavyweight championship.

Hopkins was scheduled to have an MRI later Monday on his injured left shoulder.

Hopkins lost the bout to Chad Dawson in bizarre fashion on Saturday night. Referee Pat Russell ruled there was no foul when Dawson dumped Hopkins to the canvas. The belt was awarded to Dawson via TKO and Hopkins dislocated the joint connecting his collarbone and shoulder blade.

Hopkins says he's going to fight again because, "I'm still the champion."

The 46-year-old Hopkins called for instant replay in boxing to help avoid in the future these types of tough calls.

I suspect it will be overturned and changed to a no-contest.

      So does he apparently.

Someone needs to bury this ****roach already. He's a pest now. The way he fought Pascal i was all for him but when things don't go his way, its all excuses and conspiracy of 'they want me out of boxing' and then that one fight were he stands in the ring after the fight is over looking out to the judges and writers with a sad face. He's a slick guy, I won't buy any more of his bs. Last year he was doing pushups between rounds, this year he plays the old man victim.

I don't care how much pain he was in, you don't quit. He weaseled his way out of the match. I mean how many boxers get injured from being shoved from a clinch? He should rematch Dawson or retire.

B-Hop needs to rest up and look after that separated shoulder, no more of that dangerous boxing lark.
