a shot to the nose in a fight with a common person will make their eyes water and many times the fight is over when their nose starts to bleed.

However, hitting a real fighter in the nose is nothing. After the many years of training they walk right through it. Ive always said to my young guys that I worked with, the fights just started when you get nailed in the nose and the blood begins to seep.

This is actually how I lost one of my am. fights.
I got nailed in the nose real hard and it started bleeding so badly ref had to stop a fight.
Funny thing though that I did not feel much pain and walked through the punch like its nothing.
But later when doc checked me I noticed that literally everything was in my blood, my gloves, uniform etc...

i was "sparring" with my older brother and he put on a glove and i told him to hit me. after he laughed for about five minutes, he hit me with a left hook (i did not have head gear or a mouthpiece), and i tucked my chin to my chest and braced my jaw, and i hardly felt anything. i told him to do it again. he hit me three times with a left hook and they all had the same result: me not feeling any pain and me telling him to hit me harder.

the 4th punch was a straight left jab. it hit my nose (when i was ready for another punch), my eyes watered up, i started bleeding, i staggered back a few steps, and fell right on my ass, wondering how the hell i took 3 hard left hooks and yet one hard left jab put me on the seat of my pants.

        is a mystery...

When I first started boxing my nose used to bleed like a wide open faucet. I had my blood on my clothes and everywhere. I would finish sparring and the guys would come up looking at my face, wondering where I was cut. It was just all of the blood from his gloves and such.

Anyway, in the amatuers they are all about safety. The last thing that they want is for a bloodbath to begin in one of their rings. Also, you must consider all of the diseases that can be tranferred by blood.

If you are bleeding profusely, the bout will and should be stopped in accordance with the ABF rules.

A bloody nose is nothin'. In the amatuers they will stop the bout for preservation of a good public view of the sport. In the pros you will be allowed to fight on, as you should be.

In the amatuers you are fighting for a trophy and really a loss on your record because of the bloody nose is really nothing. It may hurt your ego a bit but thats all.

Amatuer boxing wants to be presented as a wholesome and safe adventure for the youth that participate. And I honestly believe that it is. About stopping the bouts because of a bloody nose, could you imagine some kid is fighting in a bout and they are covered in their own blood. What would Grandma think of the sport after watching something like that? And thats what that is all about, in my opinion.

I thought the person who started this thread was talking about street fights...but i do know damn well that trained fighters particularly boxers would walk right through punches like those, even if u get their nose to bleed it doesnt neccessarily mean that u hurt them either. A lot of people have noses that bleed pretty easily from even the softest punch.

                I'd say solar plexus...

Reason being... Fighters can recover from a head shot, and shake it off. If a fighter gets dropped becasue of an demon solar plexus shot... It's only a matter of time.
