  • Comments Thread For: Pascal: Hopkins is Going To Be Too Smart For Dawson

It was a crowded scene at Friday’s weigh-in for the 'Believe it or Not' HBO Pay-Per-View, headlined by WBC light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins defending his belt against former champion Chad Dawson. It just so happens that one of the most notable names in the crowd was Haitian-Canadian Jean Pascal, a man who knows each man very well.

I agree with Pascal to a certain degree. Hopkins will stay in the fight with Chad because of his ring intelligence. He will not get dominated or KO'd. But at this point in his career, I think Chad's overall ability and boxing skill will be enough to get the decision. There will be no shame for Bernard because Chad is one of the better fighters out there right now.

Pascal on the other hand needs to invest in getting a new trainer. With his athletic ability and speed, who should be dominating eveybody. He lacks that championship skill level and stamina. If he goes out and get a great trainer, this kid could be a serious problem for anyone at lightheavyweight, and cruiserweight.

I agree with Bernard's son. I think the experience and ring smarts will carry Bernard through the fight. This might be a more interesting fight than many expect or it could be dead boring. We'll see. That's why I'm not taking the PPV gamble.

We are hoping that this boxing match will be different from the Mayweather/Ortiz fight. Few weeks past and people are still showing their disappointment. HBO is not yet revealing to the public the true number of PPV sold for the Mayweather/Ortiz because it is too embarassing but a news from a very reliable source just broke out stating that the PPV sold for the Mayweather/Ortiz fight was mere 500K.

Hopkins is a good fighter...he will fight any fighter who is willing to tangle with him in the ring. Chicken Floyd Mayweather Jr is a big disappointment to the sport of boxing. He chooses to retire instead of fighting good fighters in his division and if ever he fights he cheats. When he fought Juan Manuel Marquez he came in overweight and chose to pay the penalty...then again few weeks ago when he fought Ortiz he hit this less experience fighter while Ortiz was looking at the referee waiting for the referee's signal. People are not blind, they know what kind of a character this chicken Floyd Mayweather Jr. is and people knows how to retaliate. News broke out few hours ago from a very reliable source stating that the Mayweather/Ortiz PPV only sold a mere 500K. Even HBO is too embarrassed to reveal to the public this true number. Boxing aficionados around the world are still waiting for HBO to reveal the true number because they do not believe that the fight sold that much.
