    But I agree with your point completely. If boxing fans were more intelligent, they would ask why welterweights are allowed to weigh over 165 pounds on fight night.

      How about this: You have to weigh within a couple of pounds of the division limit everyday for an entire week leading up to the fight with the weigh-ins at random unannounced beforehand times plus weighing in at the limit on fight day. That way you're either at fighting weight or you're not. No draining down to make weight. Can't do it? Then you shouldn't be fighting in that weight class.
