Mayweather does not throw elbows for offense its part of his defense, IMHO he should be at least warned but he always get away with it and never seen him warned about the elbows...

Thats not what he uses that elbow for he aims it right for your face as you advance... and if anybody here was in that situation and didnt foul back well then you just a straight up soft punk B1tch thats all there is to it
You're an idiot buddy, if he was so fed up why was he apologizing constantly if he was mad at Mayweather's elbows? Why you mad? The foul was intentional that could've ended the fight. You can't foul someone and expect them not to do anything back - I bet you were crying your ass off when Ortiz got that two piece.

Hey lemme headbutt you but I'll apologize and kiss you - deal?

No matter have I analyse the outcome of the fight ortiz always comes across as a complete idiot.

What the Hell!! first he executes the most blunted head butt I have ever seen , then he walks over and kisses him .
From where I come from that is even more insulting , dont headbutt somone and then say you are sorry and kiss the them.
I think floyd behaved rather well.

And after he gets knocked down he sits there and smiles , there is somthing not right about this guy

He comes across as someone that want to apear like the nice guy , but deep down inside he is a coward and a damaged soul with ****ed up morals

I see right through that good guy smile

i find this even more hilarious than their comments that the plan was to survive early rounds and come on strong late. Floyd is a notoriously slow starter who comes on stronger and stronger the longer fights go. Ortiz would have been a bloody and battered mess had the fight gone into the late rounds.

You're right ofcourse, it's pure defense and also to create room inside before an actual punch....he doesn't "throw" an elbox, he pushes with it. He has been warned in numerous fights before. If i'm not mistaken he had a point deducted in the first Castillo fight after 2 warnings.

Danny Garcia warned referee Joe Cortez that his fighter, Victor Ortiz, would "throw a low blow or a head butt" if they felt it was necessary in retaliation for a perceived practice of dirty fighting from Floyd Mayweather Jr., the trainer told ******.com on Thursday.

Ortiz (29-3-2, 22 KOs) was dethroned as WBC welterweight titleholder by fourth round knockout against Mayweather (42-0, 26 KOs), who took advantage of an opening when Ortiz's repeated attempts to apologize for headbutting left him unprotected on Sept. 17.

With Cortez nearby, Ortiz failed to protect himself when Mayweather nailed him first with a jarring left hook and then a powerful, straight right hand that sent Ortiz sprawling to his back.

Ortiz rolled over and tried to get up, but did not rise in time to beat Cortez's 10-count. At the time of the finishing blow, Ortiz's hands were down at his sides after attempting to apologize -- in the form of a hug -- to Mayweather for a headbutt.

Garcia and Ortiz felt that the fighter was unjustly beaten, and Garcia shared his thoughts about the fight with ******.com below.

******.com: You don't think that Mayweather was on his way to winning the fight?

DG: I still think that we can beat him and that we were going to beat him. The fight was pretty even and it was going the way that I expected.

                ******.com: How do you mean?

DG: I expected the first four or five rounds that we were probably going to be losing the fight for a few rounds. I knew that. But we were doing better than I thought.

I knew that after the fifth or sixth round, that Victor was going to fight harder and harder and that he was going to start coming on and that we were going to put him down.

******.com: What are your thoughts on the intentional headbutt?

DG: Yeah, well, he headbutted him because I told Joe Cortez right before the fight in the dressing room that might happen.

******.com: That Victor would headbutt him?

DG: Well, I told him that, "You're a good referee, you have a lot of experience, and I really like the way that you do your job. But please, please keep in mind that Floyd Mayweather throws a lot with the elbows."

I told him that I don't want a dirty fight, because Victor's going to fight a good clean fight. But I told him, "if you don't take a point from Floyd or something and control his elbows and stop him from fighting dirty, then Victor's going to do something wrong too."

                ******.com: You told Cortez that?

DG: I told him that Victor is going to throw a low blow or a headbutt. I told him that, yes, in front of Victor. Within the first four rounds, Victor was getting hit with elbows two or three times good in the mouth.

******.com: So you didn't tell Ortiz to headbutt Mayweather in the fourth round, did you?

DG: No, I didn't tell him to do that. But I was going to tell him to do that in the next round, or maybe in the sixth, seventh or eighth round if Mayweather was still continuing to use his elbows.

I was going to tell Victor to do maybe a low blow or to hit him, because that way he can know that we can be dirty too. But at the time, Victor, he headbutted Mayweather on his own, yes.

Nice going Danny Garcia... may your tribe never increase.

What an ugly fight that was. First the headbutt, then the sucker punch. Poor people who wasted time and money with this. Now I'm waiting for someone to say it was all a set up.

I agree its pure defense but dont you think he uses it more now than before? and not only to push up close but also to block or defend as you can see it the last fight the "motion" of the elbow...

and also f_ck ortiz and his team if they will fight fire with fire they should not be in anyway apologetic afterward, maybe after the fight but not during the fight...
