This is the truth right here. The people putting all that money up want a guarantee that their boys comes away with the win. If Martinez doesn't KO Pirog, he is getting shafted royally. If he does KO Pirog, he would get attacked or shot before he got out of there.

Dude made like 1 mill for fighting Pavlik, which was a career high for him. That's after fighting on HBO 4 times prior. Berto was getting paid almost 2 million per fight for his last 4 or 5 fights while fighting scrubs. Martinez earns his money, Berto stole it................sorry, Al Hymon stole it from HBO for him just like he just stole 30 plus million for Floyd's "I'm the greatest of all time" sucker punch fiasco.

he was earning his money. now he's not. he's in bum parade mode just like berto. it's not that he's fighting bums. it's that they are paying him big money for fighting bums. they should give him an option. fight bums like barker for 200-300k or fight pirog for 1-1.5 million. the choice is up to him but he has nowhere else to go to make more. hbo should stop bidding against themselves.

Of course, in DiBella's mind, why would he do that when he could get approximately $1.5 million fighting another DiBella fighter such as Macklin or Andy Lee and keep it in-house? that's the entire reason Pirog offered him a fight in Russia - a chance to make more money than fighting those guys.

Let me ask you - why are you against a pirog fight?

He's not going to get floyd.
He's not going to get pacquiao.
He's not going to get chavez jr.
He's not going to get Cotto.
He's unwilling to move up in weight.

So that leaves him Macklin, Andy Lee and maybe Rubio. Are you telling me those are better fights for Martinez to take? Will any of those guys give him recognition?

Is Macklin a star in the US? Nope.
Is Lee a star in the US? Nope.
Is Rubio a star in the US? Nope.

Do they have twitter, facebook and youtube accounts? Nope. Pirog does

Seriously though, Pirog at least has a belt and was on HBO and scored one of the best KO's in recent years. That's more than Mackin can say.

So, the ONLY reason he would fight the two irishmen is because they are dibella fighters. That's it. It's that simple. In house fighting. No different than Top Rank or Golden Boy which he was so critical about. Let's be real folks.
Great posts that are spot on.

The only diffirence in opinion is the matter of who deserves to fight Sergio and who doesn't.

You think it's Pirog becuase of his technique and style, I say it's Mackling and Sturm for their accomplishments.

And Again, I don't mind a fight with Pirog, I just don't think it's a must like most people here think. If Pirog beats Macklin or Sturm or Lee for that matter. ok, Pirog is making his case to challenge Sergio. But beating Danny Jacons in my opinion is not enough.

Mate, are you a fan or a business analyst? Who gives a ****ing toss what manager would do! They are corrupt, greedy, ****s who don't give a toss about anything but money. You think they care about good fights?

Why are you arguing against a fight that is clearly the best to be made at 160? Macklin? Are you kidding me? Sturm....possible but not great in my opinion. Asa fan I want to see a good fight.

Who cares about money split, promoters and all the rest. The only reason you wouldn't want to see this fight is because you 1) don't like Pirog for whatever or 2) you are worried that Martinez would lose.

It would be a great fight between arguably the two top fighters. That's all that matters.

Like I said, Sergio wants $2.5Mill for the fight, and he's charging $2.5Mill for the robbery that would take place when the fight goes 12. That's $5Mill. Fighters are now charging for robberies upfront. Only smart promoters/boxers know about this.

Why do people keep ignoring the fact that Pirog will fight in America?

dibella is a POS, martinez screwed himself over signing with this guy. only thing i can see for pirog now is fighting in the US again to get his name out there more or fighting other top middleweights and trying to build this fight up. i hope someone interviews martinez about this whole pirog thing and not just dibella. all in all, this whole situation sucks so far.
