Marquez sparring for pacquiao 3

shoot, i dunno, i hope this sparring vid was shot at the conclusion of a long day of training.
he doesn't look anywhere near as sharp as he is used to, and all that extra muscle APPEARS to be having a negative effect on his normally crisp combination punching. on top of that, his balance looks off - he isn't pivoting, nor is he using his legs to set up his counter-punching angles, both of which are characteristics that make marquez the fighter he is.
i could be wrong, and by no means am i an expert, but his current build looks a bit too bulky for his frame and fighting style. the strength coach should've attempted to balance his physique out more by adding some of that mass to his legs instead of concentrating it all on the upper body. he looks as stocky as miguel cotto for goodness sake!Comment

Haha, that's brutal. I wish my man Marquez all the best, but I have a really bad feeling about this one.
Edit: Might I add, JMM was catching a beatdown in the second video. Nacho looked disgusted at times. He still landed a right hand that shook his sparring partner, and could end any fight instantly.Last edited by IIG; 10-12-2011, 11:24 PM.Comment

He didn't look bad. The first time I saw this video, I thought he looked bad. Now that I have seen it again, I can see he is working on his counter punching and defense. This is why he leans so much against the ropes. I can see he is trying to make his opponent pay for mistakes he makes. There is a beautiful uppercut counter to the body he throws in the second video as the guy is throwing his jab. He threw some nice counters throughout. Hopefully, we get more updates from both camps.
Did anyone notice it was a 5:00 minute sparring.Comment
