why would you lose respect? until marquez pulls a b1tch move like Mosley I won't lose any respect for him because he ALWAYS gives it all hes got. He's 38 years old, who wouldn't want to take home 5 million? his days are numbered already because of his age.
Jmm and Sergio selling out for the paycheck

Don't be such a daft ****. If anyone in all of boxing deserves nothing but a paycheck, win, lose or draw it's Marquez. The guy has earned every cent he will ever make with blood, sweat, tears and the brilliance of a long, brutal career full of great wars that he gave to us for entertainment.
If you don't admire Marquez still, you're just a fanboy with no loyalty and no respect for a great 40 year old warrior still fighting the very, very best while past his prime, moving up two divisions and with every possible disadvantage thrown at him by his opponent, and his corrupt, greedy promoter!
How many other fighters would still take the risk of doing that at 40 years old? You think Pac and Mayweather would at 40 years old?
Yes, he's going to lose and most likely badly. But, what else can you expect. He's been picked for that exact reason. He's not the same fighter he used to be at all, he's smaller, older, slower, fatter, his reflexes are dulled and he's been in too many wars. Even with all that, he's still going to go to war and try to beat the P4P number one fighter at his best weight, giving in to all his demands and with all the disadvantages they could make him have. After all that, he's the only one that does deserve a paycheck fight. More than Pac, Mayweather, Martinez or anyone else. He deserves the combined pay check of all three of those guys at once for his career. You'll probably go off blabbing about Pac getting some 20 mil pay check for fighting another 40 year old 'name' fighter, coming off another loss probably but Marquez doesn't deserve your respect? Get ****ed mate!Last edited by BennyST; 10-11-2011, 08:24 PM.Comment

sergio could have fought pirog and it would have been a career high payday, instead he fought barker... its fishy. But when you have a shot at making millions, are you going to turn it down... Let me ask that again. Would you, Bullq, turn down millions of dollars? Come on bro.
And let's be fair with Sergio. He is very skilled and very talented yet he is not getting the kind of money his skills should be getting him .. and he's 36. Cotto is 30 and he's already a millionaire. Poor Sergio is the victim of bad marketing and promotion company. He has earned and deserves to make more.Comment

Who knows Pirog outside of wherever he comes from?? He is literally unknown in the US or anywhere outside where he is from. Plus he is not a big name, he hasn't done anything significant for a fight with Sergio to make sense. It doesn't.
If he beats Pirog, who will care? Who will care about that name on his resume.. compared to known respected names like Pacquiaos, Mayweathers or Cottos? Names that look good on your resume, names that help your legacy.Comment

Marquez has been a professional fighter for eighteen years, and in that time he's given fans countless memorable fights and held and defended titles in three weight classes.
In that time, he's never been the Mexican superstar or made the money his rivals Morales and Barrera did. The Mayweather and third Pacquiao fights are about making sure he's set for life when he retires. They're also fights against the best two pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with fighting them.Comment
