    Super Six Point System.

My question is "do you think the super six point system was right to be used or would the tournament have benefitted from an elimination type of deal"?

I only ask this because the tournament kept running into problems with fighters dropping out everytime you turned around.

I think without a doubt it was a bad idea. . . when it was first announced i thought it was brilliant, innovative, and very excited about it - but it proved to be ineffective about halfway through completion. . .

I think the best way is just simple, single elimination. . . and NO MORE than 6 fighters. . . Boxing is MUCH too fickle to make plans for a tournament to carry on for more than a year.

Elimination would have been good. Do away with any seeding or points, just pull names out of the hat and fight until the last man is standing.

In that sort of format though 8 fighters would have been a good number. You could have the whole first round on one card! Imagine that, 4 quality fights on one card in one night.

I don't know... I think they got lucky that 2 originals were in the finals.

I think instead of replacing guys that leave, they should just take those guys out... If so, than its makes sense... 3 fights each point system works out. The just better prey that there r no ties...

That being said, I think single elimination is the best way to go about the first round. Than make a point system for the second... That would speed things up

You guys are thinking from a fans perspective, but you have to consider the boxer's perspective.

No one in the super six would sign up for the single elimination tournament if it was single elimination, because everyone would want homecourt advantage.

the six point system has provided better fights than a single elimination fight would do and it promotes the boxers way better.

yeah, some boxers dropped out like Kessler and Dirrell, but those guy prove themselves to be losers who never deserved to win the tournament. A true champion persists and endures through adversity.

I'm pretty sure Showtime didn't believe that any champions would leave the tournament because of injury, because they thought they were dealing with champions, but this was not the case and they should've planned for this.

I don't want Showtime to speed up the tournament.

I like the round robin idea cause then we get to see these guys fight better competition. Just imagine if there wasn't a round robin, we wouldn't get to see certain fights like Froch/Kessler because Kessler would've been eliminated by Ward.

So you guys asking for a faster tournament aren't look at the goal of the super six... which is to get these guys who regularaly wouldnt' fight each other to fight.

I liked how it all went down.

There was a lot of drama throughout and the right two fighters made it through to the end. The fact that the tournament is actually completed with the finals underway is a huge achievement. Showtime should be proud.

That being said, I feel a KO loss should mean auto-elimination, and really it sort of unofficially progressed that way anyways.

Jermain Taylor, KO, left the tourney
Allen Green, KO, left the tourney
Andre Dirrell, KO(yeah I know), left the tourney

Can't have a bracket like that with only 6 fighters, they would have had to add two fighters or drop two.
