Martinez would make him more money than either Foreman or Mayorga I know that.

That's a weak argument. Sure, a Margarito-fights makes the most financial sense for him (and he has every right to that in this stage of his career) after Manny&Floyd, but like others said, how does that explain Foreman or Mayorga? And why do you care so much about the difference in income compared to a Martinez-fight to allow Margarito to make a lot of money as well when you felt so strongly about it before?

I'm still a big fan of Miguel, but he lost a lot in the Margarito and Pacquiao-fights and also quite some hunger and warrior spirit inbetween, at least it looks that way.

That's not true, unless Martinez (A True Middleweight Champ) agreed to chump change, and Cotto cut into his purse split or Fixed Amount substantially.

I'm sure Mayorga and Foreman were happy just to fight him, in front of a big paying attendance, that they (Mayorga & Foreman) usually couldn't draw, without Cotto, and thus making more money themselves. They had nothing to bargain with. Sergio does. With his status as a Top P4P Fighter and Middleweight Champion, he is entitled to argue to be treated like an equal at the negotiation table, despite not being a huge draw.

Anyway, what happened to the standard, "My company chooses my opponent. Whoever they choose, I fight", mantra?

That's what he used to say in Post-Fight interviews whenever asked about who he would like to fight next. I guess he knows who he wants to fight after all.
