Comments Thread For: Ramos-Rigondeaux Purse Bid is Won By Top Rank
Top Rank Inc. won the rights to host the super bantamweight title fight between Rico Ramos and Guillermo Rigondeaux after winning a purse bid held Monday morning in Panama.
55/45 mandatory split is better than i thought. . . for some reason i thought it was like 75/25. . . either way, rigo will be the new champ after this fight. . .
Greed caused all this stupidity. Indeed, this fight should've been on the Cotto-Margarito undercard. Rigo and Ramos would've received more money and more exposure.
Anyway, I'm glad to see that this fight is one important step closer to becoming reality. "El Chacal" should win easily.
This fight is obviously not happending for quiet some time. Nothing backfired on Haymon, they just simply have no interest in the fight. Haymon is not letting any of his fighters fight live opponents for peanuts. Even if the original deal was put in place it wouldn't happen. Him letting it go to purse bid wasn't a move to get money it was a move to show disinterrest. Arum knew this, that's why he acted like he would put it on the cotto fight; to get publicity of a strong card. Just like Golden boy did with Morales vs Mathysse. Any one who thought that someone with a hard core Mexican following like Morales was gonna fight one of his biggest fights in a 3rd slot of someone else's pay per view is crazy. Both promoters know that this would be a boring fight anyways and it would never be worth anything for either fighter to take an L for no money and no recognition either. The only thing in play here is who is going to want to pay the belt organization more to keep the title.
