    The most deceptive ring fighters.

Name some of the most deceptive ring fighters you have ever seen in the ring. I know Floyd tends to come up alot as well as hopkins and the tempo changes he makes. What are some others?

Interesting thread.. Hmmm let me think... .. Floyd isn't deceptive. He either runs or throws slap combos followed by shoulder rolls and body twisting. The problem with Floyd is how to hit a running chicken. That's why he picks slow and weak opponents (look at his resume).

And about the topic.. hmm. Roy in his prime?? So unpredictable and he had that surprise factor that caught many fighters off guard. Also Sergio is pretty deceptive IMO.

Andre Ward. Not particularly impressive but after 4 or 5 rounds the two guys are fighting his fight....it's subtle but it happens every time. Not exciting, but very impressive.

I gotta disagree in that he does stuff like open his high guard on purpose so the other fighter will take the bate and get suckered into a right hand. Or he would feint the high left so he can go to the body with the right (he did that with Judah). Though I noticed he hasnt been setting up as much since the lay offs. He also would extend his left hand out to block his opponents vision. Once they get frustrated enough they try to knock his glove away and get hit with a right hand as soon they touch his glove.

I would also like to throw in Sugar Ray Leonard. He would throw a four or five hit slap flurry and then start throwing power shots on top.

What does the thread starter mean by "deceptive".

Anyway, the fighter that pops up for me is PAC. How many times has PAC been a betting underdog and ends up not just winning but annihilating the odds on favorite fighter ?

During Pre-fight interviews... how many times have we heard opposing fighters/coaches say his speed is overrated, he's too small, he doesn't know what he's doing(fighting skills) blah, blah. And after the fights, alot of his opponents are in shock of what they had been through after their faces have been beaten and battered. Case in point, this post-fight interview below...

Like trap setters or bait fighters. Fighters that may come up short in certains ways but do things to change the tempo of the fight. Like pernell whitaker going into the corner and making his fighter miss everyshot and making his opponent wish they never followed him just to be made to look like a fool. Fighters that like to lure you into a false sense of security and then strike.
