Former pound for pound king and multiple division world champion Roy Jones Jr contacted me to inform me that a fight is in the works for December 10th, in Atlanta GA. Jones is close to signing a deal for a tune up fight Vs. cruiserweight Max Alexander (14-5).
The future hall of fame bound Jones was stopped late in the last round of his fight Vs. Denis Lebedev earlier this year in Moscow. Many people in the sport are wanting Roy to call it quits, but the bottom line here is, Roy isn't ready to quit.
Jones has shown public support and has frequently expressed kind words for current pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao. The Pacman is currently on his way back to Los Angeles for the 2nd leg of his training camp. He's currently preparing for a November showdown with Juan Manuel Marquez.
Roy Jones Jr is a fighter. Although he may not possess the same skills as he once had, he is a fighter and fighter's do not quit easily. It's just not in their genetics to quit.
