No, the fact is, people assumed immediately Margarito was cheating, and I'll tell you why.

Preceding the fight, all we heard was, "Cotto is much faster, has a better ring iq, and can out box the face first, come forward brawler."


People simply couldn't accept the fact that the Mexican "nobody", punked the Puerto Rican hero.


This was, immediately after the fight. Not months. Immediately.

I dont want to get into speaking for other people who I dont know but everyone that I know including myself never entertained the thought of Margarito cheating against Cotto until after the Mosley handwrap scandal.

1) Was using plaster.
2) and has the style to beat Cotto.

A man would have to be pretty ****** to overlook the fact that Margarito's gloves were tampered with prior to Mosley destroying him. Mosley was the underdog coming into that fight & Margarito was supposed to send him off to retirement. Now rewind the scenario to Cotto, prime & undefeated in Margarito's biggest fight.

I understand that there is a rivalry at play between Mexican's & Ricans. But if Margarito cheated against a Mosley that he was supposed to retire, why wouldn't he do it against Cotto, in the biggest fight of his career?

Someone defending Cotto has a case for their argument. But it will only be speculation, because it was never proven. I think people should just get their popcorn ready because the rematch will tell a lot. Margarito won't be able to bring suspect wraps in this time. So if he dominates Cotto again, he clearly has his number. But if Cotto beats him, well the rest is good for argument.

Stop ignoring that a lot of that "style" Cotto used in fight 1 had to do with "Holy sh it this guy hits like sheetrock!" and therefore a change in approach.
