For the last four years Paq's detractors have trashed him for not fighting JMM again, and now that he is doing it he is being trashed again for the opposite reason. JMM will come to fight, unlike SSM and Cotto for the last eight rounds. Should be a good fight.

I don't think it was a cherry pick at all. They have history and it's obviously not sorted out yet. It's unfinished business that was never settled even despite this time, Manny is going to be too much. The fight may be irrelevant to some but for the two fighters in the ring, it's personal for both. People seem to be forgetting that this fight is not for the people mostly, it's for the boxer's themselves for the most part.

Resume wise, I dont think its good because definitely he wont get anything from JMM (because he's suppose to fight at LW). So honestly in that perspective, yes there's nothing really special about the fight.

However, storywise and plotwise, the archenemies are both legit HoF and legends at their own right. Both has been fighting each other for more than 7 years and fans are all over it because of the controversies behind it. So for me, getting such a fight for both fighters (who both seem to retire in a couple of years) is one of the best fights you can have to date. I think, this series will be one of boxing's ATG fights and it will be talked about years after both fighters are long gone.

So for me, although it stinks because it Pac has nothing to gain in paper, but its legacy and respect from fans will surely be remembered. This is why there is a lot of money on the table.
