In his last 2 fights Paulie also got two gimme fights against Michael Lozada & Jose Miguel Cotto.

Because he was never that great to begin with, he just did a really good job of hyping himself up. Since the Khan fight, he's more or less been written off, and he even admitted that he may have lost a step. I doubt most people are offended by his opponent selection.
