Its odd he talks about self preservation when he's talking about a possible fight with Manny, yet he's fighting Cotto. It's obvious he sees Manny as a legitimate threat, or at least a dagger in his career. He singles out Manny with OSTs, money splits, and now self preservation. He mustve seen Mannys last fight with JMM, yet why is he still scared?

Im all for blood, guts, tears, sweat, pain, war, and glory, but self preservation does come first. Now im not a fan of Mayweather, I think he has a terrible personality and I despise the person he's become in boxing, but I have to admit, you can't disrespect the man for wanting to take care of himself and his family first. You as a fan, do not come before his family. I want Cotto to destroy this prick, but I have to agree and respect the fact that he must look out for his own first. I do think he's a ***** for not fighting Pacquiao, and I dont think Pacquiao ties in anywhere with this "self preservation" ploy, but I understand what he means by it. All you calling him a ***** for saying it, are just down right ******ed.Comment

He's said this years ago.
I don't have enough posts to link to it but theres an interview of him on Youtube where he says "there's nothing cool about taking punishment". This was back in at least 2010.
